Humans are not the same when it comes to sleeping. Some are good sleepers who can sleep any time of the day, wherever and whenever they like. Others suffer because they have difficulty falling asleep and when they do sleep, it’s not as deep and sound as they prefer it to be. Our lifestyle and the food that we intake affects the way we sleep. These can have positive or negative effect on the quantity and the quality of our sleep. Normal humans need on average of 4 to 9 hours of sleep every 24 hours. This will make you feel more refreshed the next day. The amount of time needed for sleep varies from one person to another. A lot of people would like to believe that 8 hours of sleep is sufficient and will make them healthy, and other
believe that the more sleep they get, the healthier they would become. The truth is, if you get 5 hours of sleep and feel fresh the next day, you do not have any sleeping disorder. Others think that they are stressful because they lack sleep and this mind set will even give them more difficulty in sleeping. This kind of thinking will just keep them from falling sound asleep, because they will be thinking of their problems even when going to bed.
There are advises that are given to those who are unable to get a good night’s sleep. Going to bed early is one of them. Of course, you need to be sleepy in order for you to sleep right away, so only go to bed when you are sleepy. Use the bed only for sleeping. Do not use your notebook or laptop in your bed, because if you are stressed on finishing a deadline, then most likely you won’t be able to fall asleep. Try not to force yourself to sleep. This will just give you more anxiety. There are also advices such as moving to another room if you are unable to sleep.
The bedroom environment is also another factor that you should recall. Temperature extremes may prevent you from sleeping. Loud noises won’t help. Avoid looking at your bedroom clock, this will just keep you frustrated. Make sure your bed is as comfortable as possible to lull you to sleep. How the sheets feel are also important, so make sure you have the right bed ensemble. For example, getting a king bed in a bag with a nautical bedding to match your taste will keep you tucked in and comfortable; will help you in having those sweet dreams.
